CANCELED: An Analog Introduction to Text Analysis

Note: This event has been canceled. It may be rescheduled for a future date in Spring 2019.

Are you new to text analysis and don’t know where to start? Are you interested in learning more about text analysis but intimidated by digital tools? In this introductory workshop, participants will get hands-on experience learning fundamental concepts in text analysis -- including tokenization, text cleaning, and common methods like part-of-speech tagging and word frequencies -- all without using a computer. By the end of the session, attendees will become familiar with common terminology and methods in text analysis and how they are implemented while addressing the many methodological challenges that arise along the way. This workshop is intended for attendees with little or no prior exposure to text analysis or those who want to refresh their understanding of basic text analysis concepts.
